January 2020 - The second annual 7th-12th Enrichment Day went off without a hitch! The main intention behind the Enrichment Day is to show our appreciation for the hard work that our students put forth every day and ease them into the second semester by providing educational opportunities that focus less on academics and more on lighthearted fun. We as a staff feel like this is a great way for our students to learn and grow in ways that may not always be afforded to them in the regular educational setting. This year’s Enrichment Day was a fine mix of drawing upon the foundational knowledge and skills that our students already possess while introducing opportunities that may peak a new interest as well as enhance creative and critical thinking skills. Our students were divided into groups based on number and not on grade and each group was able to participate in each activity for a full hour. The activities included roller coaster building, card tricks, origami, the card game Euchre, an escape room, and yard games. A special session that our elementary students were able to enjoy as well, was a presentation on glass blowing by Michael Beahm through the Hastings College Mobile Glass Studio.
